| Bio: | Character: Meilin Li Series/Fandom: CardCaptor Sakura Original or Alternate: Alternate Age: 17 Gender: Female Species: Human Sexuality: Heterosexual Appearance: Meilin has brown eyes and straight black hair that reaches just below her waist. Her hair is usually tied into two long ponytails and the ribbons that hold them are colored a bright yellow with what looks like a random design of faded brown spots. Closer inspection however would reveal the spots to be dried blood. Meilin will always be seen with these two ribbons even if they are not in use. She wears a short chinese dress of either black, dark blue or dark red silk, with yellow trimmings on the chinese collar, the end of the dress only a few inches above her knees, and the edges of her billowing sleeves each tipped with a golden bell. Only the bells on her dark blue dresses ring. A yellow bird is embroidered at the back of all her dresses. She wears chinese shoes with colors that match her dress, and on them is the insignia of yin and yang. Personality: Meilin used to be a strong-willed free-spirited girl who insisted on getting her way done. She was fiercely competitive and kept on trying to involve herself where she wasn't concerned, but often meant well. Now, however, Meilin is just as determined as before but has grown cold and cynical. She does things in a no-nonsense, almost impassive fashion, believing it to be the best way to accomplish things without involving too many people or emotions. In a life that hasn't seen peace or true happiness for a very long time, she struggles for stability at the very least. But even that is something she is incapable of acquiring, just as she is incapable of controlling the various events that keep on happening upon her and her friends. And so she turns towards controlling her own self, trying to believe as she would have everyone else to believe that she is calm, cool-headed and focused. But deep inside she is in turmoil, endlessly confused with only one single thought clear--her mission: to be by Syaoran's side and protect him, in hopes that this would eventually lead to everything becoming fine once again. Abilities/Strengths: Meilin is a master of several martial arts and well-trained in a dozen or so others. She is very strong and very fast. Weapons: She can wield a variety of weapons from swords to bo-staffs and nunchuks. However, she does well, and fights often, with her fists and body. Meilin's kicks and punches are very powerful, but they are downright devastating when she wears her metal-plated gauntlets and metal-tipped boots. She rarely uses them however, as they were gifted by one Li Yelan, the mother of her good friend Syaoran. Weaknesses: Unlike her friends, Meilin can perform no magical attacks. This is not due to lack of training however; there is simply not a drop of magic in her blood. She cannot sense things magical and have no means by which to defend herself from them. She love-hates everyone she has known from before Econtra (Sakura, Syaoran and Tomoyo), including herself, and internally struggles with the rightfulness of still letting everyone live even as she tries her best to protect them. She is often disturbed with thoughts of killing everyone will stop their pain or if that one of them dies then maybe the grief will help those remaining return to what they were before. She has also developed an aversion to touch--will pull away immediately if anyone touches her and act indifferent towards the perpetrator for awhile, or lash out if they had touched her neck or face. She has no control of the latter; it is like a reflex that won't go away until she hurts somebody. History: When she was a lot younger, she had a friend named Li Syaoran who meant everything and the world to her. Syaoran was quiet, serious, and cold, but, once, when Meilin lost her pet bird, Syaoran went out to search for it in the heavy rain. This lead Meilin into believing that Syaoran liked her. And, since they liked each other better than anyone else they knew, the young Meilin thought they should be engaged and marry each other someday. Syaoran carelessly 'agreed'-- "Do as you like"-- when she became very insistent and Meilin prided herself to be Syaoran's fiance from then on. Everything changed when Syaoran moved away to hunt for Clow Cards and left Meilin behind. Meilin finally went after him after awhile, only to discover that he has fallen deeply in love with somebody else-- Sakura Kinimoto, Clow Reed's successor. For awhile Meilin tried to steal Syaoran by competing with the Card Mistress, but even she knew her efforts were in vain. Eventually she gave up and admitted defeat, finding comfort offered by Sakura's own best friend, Tomoyo Daidouji. She soon after became good friends with the two girls and even took to conspiring with Tomoyo to help Sakura and Syaoran admit their feelings for each other. The happiness she felt for the couple when they finally got together was unbelievable, especially so since Meilin really loved Syaoran. Maybe even still loved him. A year later, Syaoran was summoned back to Hong Kong by their family to take his rightful place as clan leader. He had been gone from his home for a very long while, and was most comfortable with Meilin. So she stayed by his side as much as she could and was allowed to, though their relationship never grew into anything more than very close friendship. She failed to be there when Syaoran needed her the most however-- when he went to challenge the ambitious elder Fei Wong Reed to keep Sakura safe. Syaoran was captured, and Meilin thought the blame should fall on her shoulders for not having been there to help him. Fei Wong demanded the new Card Mistress be brought to him in exchange for Syaoran, but Syaoran's family refused. Meilin herself was tasked to inform those around Sakura of the situation and to ask their help in protecting her--but not to tell Sakura anything to keep her from trying to save Syaoran, from coming to Hong Kong and to danger. Meilin did that and more. After getting in contact with Tomoyo, she also tracked down the great sorcerer Hiirazigawa Eriol, who was then residing in London. When Eriol promised to go back to Tomoeda and protect Sakura, Meilin shifted all of her energies to helping rescue Syaoran. She trained diligently for battle, pushing herself well past her limits and improving her already formidable skills even more. But because she was a girl and did not have an ounce of magical energy in her, the family refused to let Meilin join their efforts. They told her that she had already accomplished what she had to do, what she could only do to help. Left with no choice and an intense desire to save Syaoran stemming from guilt and fast becoming an obsession, Meilin decided to act on her own. Since Fei Wong knew her well to be a friend of Syaoran's, she approached and befriended one of his younger 'minions'. Their close friendship could probably have evolved into something more given time, or if Meilin was open to such things. But she had grown cynical and jaded, caring for nothing but Syaoran's release. Less than a week before the night they planned to break him out however, Syaoran snapped. Meilin arrived in the scene too late to even see him leave, finding only her friend, who had the misfortune of becoming one of Syaoran's victims. He told her of what happened before succumbing to death. Meilin couldn't even find it in herself to cry for him. She left to look for Syaoran, always only a step behind him it seemed. Eventually, she decided to return to Tomoeda as she knew that would be where Syaoran would come sooner or later. Upon her arrival however, she learned from Touya, Sakura's brother, that Sakura had been missing for some time now, and that they didn't know where Tomoyo was either. Last they saw of her was before she left for Hong Kong to look for Sakura there, but she never boarded the plane. Meilin stayed in Syaoran's old house in Tomoeda for awhile, hoping against hope that one day she would wake up to find one, if not all, of her friends back home. One day she woke up and found herself to be the one not at home. She had been brought to Econtra, and has also become one of those to disappear....
